So Kylan was sick, He threw up first in the neighbors kitchen, then all over the car, then about 3-4 more times before bedtime which made for a very long night. The girls weren't doing what they were asked fast enough and even though Kerry came home and did the dishes first thing, I still lost my temper when I didn't get to go to book club like I wanted. (I did go later) I know I should have out grown throwing fits a long time ago but hey what can I say.
So my cute little Cambry looks at me and says "Mom you didn't earn your stars"
Last week she decided the best way to get her to be nice to her sisters was to earn stars. Then she gets a prize or something, it was never quite decided. But then she added " don't worry you have at least 11 stars".
So I had to ask what I got 11 stars for. She says " well you did apologize to dad, and you were nice to us before, I know you have at least 11 stars. " It's good to know I have some redeeming qualities even if she couldn't name them. I recently read a talk from general conference."Stay on the Path" by Rosemary M. Wixom.
it is a great reminder of how we ought to be examples to our children and help keep them on the path to heaven. Unfortunately more often then not, my children have to remind me of the things we have taught them.
But how can you argue with "stars". So I guess I will just have to try harder. Maybe a LONG time out. I have a couple of books I've been wanting read lately. Do you think the kids would entertain themselves long enough if I told them I was grounded and couldn't come out of my room!! It's something to think about. And let me ask, have you earned your stars today?

excited to see you soon!!
How darling! Well I don't remember any "no star" days when you were growing up, so don't be too hard on yourself :).
Give that wise little Cambry a big squench from Grandma will you.
As to the time-outs - I think it's a fabulous idea - don't you wish I'd given myself a few when you were growing up :).
That is a really cute story. I am glad you shared it.
I like that Cambry came up with her own program for being nice.
